“Mary, do you have those readings yet?” Linzi asked while Serfa snarled at the lack of effect the Unicorn’s weapons were having on the enemy ship they were barreling towards.
“Adjusting programs, Zee.” The AI paused. “Ready and initiated.”
“Transmit to all ships capable of making them,” she ordered in a tight voice. “And hurry.”
Glancing at the Siamet, she added, “Okay, now show me what you’ve got, kitty.”
“With pleasure,” Serfa hissed, eyes narrowing as her claws tapped the controls.
“We’re receiving,” Hrel was cut off by Terss’ yowl of excitement. The Unicorn sailed past them, all weapons firing in a blaze of rainbow glory. And they were cutting through the shields of the enemy!
The ship she’d targeted exploded and yells of exultation filled the open comm channel in response. Linzi’s voice cut through the noise. “All right, time to get serious about this. My sesslin’s waiting for his ride.”
Initiating the programs they’d received, Hrel replied, “At once, sesslaan.”
“Hm, that sounded like,” Pen began saying, only to be cut off by Trissk’s howl.
“By the gods! Linzi, what are you doing?”
“Coming to get you. What’s it look like?” was the tart response.
